Why Buy Local Flowers?

Most people have heard the catchphrase, “Buy Local!” well the same reasoning applies for local flowers.

Supports YOUR Neighborhood

Buying from local growers supports your local economy and reinvests your money straight into your neighborhood and keeps your dollar in your town, state, and your country instead of overseas.

Responsibly Grown

Most local farmers grow on their own land and treat it as such - using no pesticides (like all Flowerson4th flowers) and responsible growing practices. Imported flowers from countries, in particular, South America, notoriously use large amounts of pesticides to control weeds and pests - not so with local farms.

Fresh, Fresh, Fresh

Did I mention fresh? Local flowers are harvested days before reaching the customer - in the case of farmers markets we normally harvest the day before! Imported flowers are cut weeks before arriving to a retail outlet. Fresh cut local flowers improves quality, color, smell, and vase life.

Seasonal Flowers = Interesting Flowers

Local growers usually have interesting flowers and different varieties of blooms that are hard to find in normal retail floral operations. One example is the Dahlia - this is a unique and beautiful flower that lots of local growers have in season in late summer / fall but that are not available or extremely hard to find in grocery or retail.

Help Save the Bees

Local flower farms provide a haven for bees and pollinators who in turn help the ecosystem in your area.

This is definitely not an exhaustive list of why local flowers farms are a great asset to your community but these are my top reasons for why to buy local flowers.
